EMS OPENS MANUFACTURING PLANT IN CHINA.

New facility sited to serve rapidly expanding Asian markets.

EMS plant in ChinaEMS is pleased to announce the opening of its new manufacturing operation and service center in China. Engineered Materials Solutions Special Alloys (China) Co., Ltd. is a wholly-owned foreign enterprise (WOFE) located in Baoying County, Jiangsu Province, in eastern China. The newly constructed 100,000 square foot (9290 square meter) facility has been sited, designed and built from the ground up with the objective of improving overall service levels for Asian users of thermostat metals and specialty clad metals. Initial production will start in the first quarter of 2007.

“We are very proud of our new Baoying plant and of the new members of the EMS team who work there,” said Dominick J. Archino, president of Engineered Materials Solutions Special Alloys (China) Co., Ltd. “We are now able to serve our customers and markets with the quality standards and practices of a single company from bases on two continents. The new facility allows us to greatly reduce lead times while still providing the same quality our customers depend upon.”

The state-of-the-art Baoying plant was designed for Lean Manufacturing from the start and also employs ISO standards as control procedures. The plant includes many amenities that contribute to the quality environment such as a climate controlled finishing and stamping facility, humidity controlled warehousing, complete automated safety and security systems and well appointed, climate controlled and technologically advanced administration offices. Asian thermal control markets served from Baoying will include heating, ventilation and air conditioning, refrigeration, lighting, large and small appliance and electric distribution, among others.

“We are both pleased and excited as we move from the construction phase to the production phase of this new venture,” said Eric Olson, chief executive officer of Engineered Materials Solutions, Inc. “This new plant underscores our commitment to serving the thermostat metal and specialty clad metal strip markets worldwide.”

“Dom Archino and the entire EMS China team are to be congratulated on a superior job of guiding this effort so smoothly from strategic concept to operating manufacturing plant,” he continued. “We also want to thank all the members of the Baoying government, the Baosheng Group, Sensata Technologies and the other customers who provided invaluable assistance and counsel over the past several years. We look forward to strong growth and deepening relationships in Baoying and throughout Asia.”
