EMS China Plant Makes First Shipment

Breaking ground to shipping product in twenty months.

First shipment from EMS cChina facility: June 11, 2007

The first shipment of thermostat bimetal departed from the recently completed Engineered Materials Solutions manufacturing plant in China on Monday, June 11, 2007, marking the most recent milestone in the life of the new facility. The new operation, a wholly-owned foreign enterprise (WOFE) named Engineered Materials Solutions Special Alloys (China) Co., Ltd., is located in Baoying County, Jiangsu Province, in eastern China.

“This is a significant milestone in the history of EMS,” commented Dominick J. Archino, vice president of strategic business development. “We have now begun to serve our bimetal customers with the same quality standards and practices from manufacturing sites located on 2 continents – North America and Asia. We are realizing our goal of dramatically shortening leadtimes while maintaining the quality levels our customers rely on,” he continued. “On behalf of the entire EMS China Team, I want to thank all of the EMS Attleboro employees who have helped make EMS China a success.”

Ground was broken for the new 100,000 square foot (9290 square meter) facility in November of 2005, and construction was completed less than a year later. Equipment installation and qualifications have taken place since January 1 of this year, and production start-up took place in the second quarter.

The milestone first order was shipped for distribution to customers throughout China. The material will provide electrical sensing and control functions for a variety of applications in the appliance, lighting, and residential and industrial electrical distribution markets.
